Michael Beech
Michael is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with project management and project engineering experience in the UK, Ireland and the US. His MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology at Loughborough University included three months working with the Mayo Energy Agency, Ireland supporting an EC 'ALTENER' contract quantifying embedded generation limits for an island electricity network.
From 2002 Michael was Technical Advisor with TV Energy, the renewable energy agency for the Thames Valley, where he spent 6 years primarily involved in both community based projects and larger mixed use developments within a project management and technical role, with the aim of incorporating renewable energy and combined heat & power (CHP) technologies into the built environment, both existing and new construction. More recently he has worked for RPS, developing business and consultancy capability within the low carbon energy supply sector.
His experience has involved all stages of project development, from interpreting initial enquiries to providing technical proposals, technical and economic analysis, project outline design, and project management of renewable energy installations. Clients include the public sector, developers, businesses, not-for-profit groups and private individuals.
Projects undertaken have involved urban regeneration, integrated energy supply strategies for mixed use developments, renewable energy for schools and feasibility assessments for the inclusion of low carbon energy systems and energy efficiency improvements within existing buildings and new buildings. He has considerable experience in the assessment of feasibility, concept design and implementation of building integrated bio-energy and solar projects.
Michael is a CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant and registered Energy Assessor able to provide Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for all types of non-residential buildings.
The other half of Michael's time is regularly booked out by his three young girls and assorted house building projects. Golf, music and following the Spurs help to fill in any gaps - the latter always with high expectations, seldom fulfilled...
